JAKARTA - To accelerate the transition to electrification, seven large manufacturers consisting of BMW Group, General Motors (GM), Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz Group, and Stellantis NV, officially created a joint venture to create EV charging in North America.
In the joint venture, the seven giant manufacturers intend to build charging for an easily accessible, convenient, and reliable EV.
The cooperation agreement includes the development of the latest high-power charger by providing 30,000 networks to make it easier for millions of electric vehicle users.
Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said the creation of the cooperation could create more opportunities for a charging experience given that demand for electric vehicles will increase quite rapidly.
"We believe that large-scale charging networks are critical to protecting freedom of movement for everyone, especially as we work to achieve our ambitious carbon neutrality plan," Tavares said in an official statement, Wednesday, July 26.
Interestingly, the charging station can be accessed on all electric battery powered vehicles of any brand and offers Combined Charging System (CCS) and North American Charging Standard (NACS) connectors.
Like a refueling station, each electricity charging network will be equipped with facilities such as restaurants, restaurants, and other facilities that make customers feel comfortable.
The new charging network promises to offer unlimited integration with experience in-vehicle and in-app automakers participating, including smart reservation, planning and navigation of routes, payment apps, transparent energy management, and more.
The first station will open in the US in the summer of 2024, followed by Canada afterwards. Each station point has used several high-power DC chargers, which allows electric vehicles to travel long distances.
