JAKARTA - As one of the oldest martial arts branches in the world, judo emphasizes the balance between physical strength, technical accuracy, and self-control. Sports from Japan not only teach fighting skills, but also philosophy of discipline, respect, and harmony of the body and mind.
These values are clearly evident in the appearance of Indonesian judo athletes at the 2025 Self-Defense PON event, including from the Central Java (Central Java) team which performed brilliantly in the Jun No Kata number.
The Judo Team in Central Java managed to record the highest score and won a gold medal in the Jun No Kata number which was held at Djarum Arena Kaliputu, Kudus Regency, Central Java, Sunday, as quoted by ANTARA.
In this category, the Central Java team was strengthened by Cynthia Trubus Octaviani as Tori (technical executor) and Lie Grace Nathalia Tedjawijaya as Uke (technical recipient). Both of them appeared impressive with the acquisition of 370.5 points, ahead of strong competitors from Bali and West Java.
"We are grateful to be able to reach the highest score, ahead of the Bali team, which previously won the XXI Aceh and North Sumatra 2024 PONs," said Lie Grace Nathalia Tedjawijaya accompanied by Cynthia Trubus Octaviani after the match in Kudus.

Lie Grace explained that the Central Java team had the opportunity to appear first in the match, and was able to maintain consistency until the end. He considered this result to be the fruit of a long training and focused on facing this prestigious event.
Meanwhile, Cynthia Trubus Octaviani, his team-mate from Semarang, said that this competition was attended by six participating teams.
"We can appear first and praise God, we can immediately win the first place today. The opponents are quite strong, especially from Bali and West Java who won medals at the Aceh and North Sumatra PON 2025. Meanwhile, the Central Java team has not yet received results," he said.
According to Cynthia, thanks to thorough preparation and intensive training, the Central Java team was finally able to produce the best results at the 2025 Self-Defense PON event.
"PON Bela Diri is very good, it is a new experience and an opportunity for us to improve our achievements. We are proud to be able to represent Central Java in this event," he added.
Both claimed to have targeted a gold medal from the start.
"We did target gold because in the previous Aceh PON we had not succeeded in achieving it. So this time we are training more extra and more focused," Cynthia emphasized.
In Jun No Kata's assessment, each partner is judged based on technique, balance, and movement clarity. Cynthia said that the key to their success is accuracy in every technical detail and ensures that movement remains easy to understand even by spectators who are not judo practitioners.
"In judo, the most important thing is the balance and clarity of technique. We are trying to make every movement clear, so that the referee can assess the details of every technique we show," he said.
The two athletes hope that this achievement will be a valuable asset towards PON 2028 in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), as well as an important experience to improve their ability at the national level.
As for the final result, Jun No Kata noted, the Central Java team won 370.5 points, followed by Bali in second place with 348.5 points, and West Java in third place with 334.5 points.
