Another Accident, Jorge Martin Absent From Thailand's MotoGP 2025

Jorge Martin had to miss the opening series for MotoGP 2025 due to injury after an accident during training (Instagram/@89jorgemartin).

JAKARTA Aprilia racer, Jorge Martin, has been ruled out of the 2025 MotoGP race opener which will take place in Thailand this weekend.

MotoGP via their official website confirmed Martin was absent in Thailand after suffering a broken bone in his left hand in an accident during training ahead of the season's opening.

"Jorge Martin will miss Thailand's MotoGP after an accident during training," reads a MotoGP statement.

The accident left Martin with a fracture in his left hand and a small fracture in his right leg and will undergo surgery at Barcelona on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

The latest problem adds to Martin's unlucky long list during preparations for the 2025 season. He had to previously miss Malaysia's test due to an accident on the first day.

After missing Sepang and the operation, Martin as defending champion immediately prepared himself for the new season. Unfortunately, he again met unfortunate.

Aprilia has confirmed that Lorenzo Savadori will replace the world champion in the first round which will take place at Chang International Circuit, Sunday, March 2, 2025.

Martin came out last season as world champion after winning the competition against Francesco Bagnaia, the two-time world champion and defending champion at the time.
