West Aceh Regency Government Hands Over Thousands Of Ducks And Dozens Of Goats For Poktan Panton Reue

JAKARTA - A total of 1,200 ducks and 85 goats were handed over by the West Aceh Regency Government to the Sabeena Farmers Group (Poktan), Kuala Manyeu Village, Panton Reue District.

"This livestock aid was handed over as an effort to improve welfare and family income for the community in the midst of a pandemic," said West Aceh Regent Ramli MS, Saturday, October 30.

He hopes that the provision of assistance can also improve the economic recovery of people affected by the pandemic, as well as realize food security for the community.

Ramli MS said that livestock assistance is a form of local government concern for the community, in growing the community's economy, especially in rural areas.

"By moving the wheels of the rural economy, it will also have an impact on regional economic growth as a whole," said Ramli MS.

He said that from the beginning he led West Aceh in the 2007-2012 and 2017-2022 periods, he had been committed to starting the development of West Aceh from the village and then followed by development in the city area.

Ramli MS hopes that the assistance provided can be used properly to encourage economic improvement for the community.

With good aid management, the livestock assistance provided can be developed into more.

"In addition to meeting food needs, this livestock can also be used as a source of income for the community, both meat and eggs," said Ramli MS.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Aceh Province Food Service, represented by the Head of Food Availability and Insecurity, Badriah Hasballah, said that the handover of livestock assistance to farmer groups in West Aceh was aimed at overcoming food insecurity in villages.

"This assistance is given to all villages in Aceh which are suspected to have the potential for food insecurity, so not all villages receive assistance, depending on the level of food vulnerability of each village," said Badriah.

The types of commodities given to the Sabena farmer group are livestock, namely 85 peanut goats consisting of 75 female goats and 10 male goats and 1,200 ducklings consisting of 1,000 female and 200 male he explained.

He hopes that this assistance can be a motivation for the community to continue to develop the livestock that has been given, to become more so that this village is free from food insecurity conditions and the welfare of the community can also increase, he hoped.
