Without Compromise, Bandung City Government Immediately Stops Face-to-face Learning In A Number Of Schools Due To COVID-19

BANDUNG - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) has temporarily suspended face-to-face learning (PTM) in a number of schools following new cases of COVID-19 in schools.

Bandung City Secretary Ema Sumarna said the temporary suspension was a consequence of regulations if there were 5 percent of people in schools, both students and teachers who were confirmed to have COVID-19.

"You don't know your favorite school or whatever, COVID-19 doesn't know that. Once there are cases and they exceed the percentage, they just stop, go back to distance learning (PJJ)," said Ema in Bandung, West Java, Antara, Friday, October 22.

However, so far Ema has not disclosed which schools have been temporarily suspended, as well as the number of schools.

According to him, when it returns to normal, the school can resume the PTM again. "However, if below that, there are still things that can run, the case is only at that location. We'll just use that guideline," he said.

Apart from education matters, Ema admitted that his party immediately carried out tracking efforts after a number of people (school residents) tested positive.

The tracking can be done to the family, study group, and a number of people who may have close contact with the confirmed person.

"Later, it must be mapped for students who live in the city of Bandung or students who live outside the city of Bandung. The main thing for us is that this treatment has been standardized," he said.

Currently, there are 72 active cases of COVID-19 in Bandung. This figure has decreased compared to the previous week, which averaged 90-100 active cases per day.
