JAKARTA - The General Election Commission (KPU) of North Penajam Paser Regency (PPU), East Kalimantan (Kaltim) has prepared 242 voting booths to be used in the simultaneous Village Head Elections (Pilkades) in 14 villages.

"In addition to the 242 voting booths, other logistics that we need to prepare are ballot boxes. According to the request from the relevant agencies, we have also prepared 85 ballot boxes," said PPU Regency KPU Chair Irwan Sahwana in Penajam as quoted by Antara, Saturday, October 16.

His party prepared the voting booths and ballot boxes after receiving a letter of request for borrowing the ballot boxes and booths from the PPU Regency Community and Village Empowerment Service (DPMD).

He admitted that he strongly supports democratic parties at the village level such as the simultaneous Pilkades. When the PPU DPMD sent a letter of borrowing the ballot boxes and voting booths, it immediately prepared the requested amount.

He continued, at every democratic event at the village level, both the Pilkades and the election of the Village Consultative Body (BPD), the local DPMD always lend logistics to it because the DPMD does not yet have the logistics.

"Soon, this month the PPU DPMD will take the ballot boxes and booths here, and then distribute them directly to villages that are ready to hold Pilkades simultaneously according to the number of polling stations in the village," he said.

In the simultaneous Pilkades which will be held on 15 December, there are 14 villages participating in the Pilkades. While the number of DPT as many as 32,057 voters spread over 83 polling stations.

The 14 villages are the Village of Bukit Subur, Giri Mukti, Api-Api, Sesulu, Babulu Darat, Babulu Laut, Mount Makmur, Sebakung Jaya, Rawa Mulia, Sri Raharja, Sumber Sari, Wonosari, Bukit Raya, and Tengin Baru.

Irwan reminded each village to keep the ballot boxes and booths which are KPU assets from being damaged after being used, especially the ballot boxes made of paper.

According to him, in the previous BPD election, there were several logistics that had not yet returned to the KPU, namely 15 ballot boxes and eight voting booths, so he asked that this incident not be repeated.
