Jakarta Deputy Governor Will Not Tighten PPKM Anticipating Rise In COVID-19 Cases In The Rainy Season

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, said that he would not tighten PPKM as a measure to anticipate the increase in COVID-19 cases.

"To tighten activities again, we are adjusting to the PPKM (implementation of restrictions on community activities) that are in effect", Riza said as quoted by Antara, Friday, October 15.

Deputy Governor Riza said the warning needed to be conveyed to the public because based on the reports he received, there was the potential for the spread of COVID-19 more quickly during the rainy season than during the dry season.

"If the dry season is hot, while the rainy season is humid, the virus is easy to grow, so in general this (according to research) the goal is to make everyone more obedient, obedient, disciplined in carrying out health procedures", said Riza.

Meanwhile, for the readiness of the health workers themselves, Riza admitted that there were no significant obstacles. By looking at the second wave of COVID-19, which had a high spread, Jakarta could control COVID-19.

"Alhamdulillah, in a high position, we can control it, especially now we can control it significantly", he said.

Previously, the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, warned the public to be more careful ahead of the rainy season. According to Riza, the rainy season has the potential to make COVID-19 spread faster.

"We ask the public to carry out health protocol and PPKM Level 3, especially as we enter the rainy season, there is the potential for the spread of COVID-19 to be faster", said Riza at the DKI DPRD complex, Thursday, October 14.

The chairman of the DKI Jakarta Gerindra Party does not want the capital to be hit by the third wave of COVID-19 at the end of 2021.

To anticipate this, Riza said he would pursue the target of 11.4 million vaccinations to be completed in November 2021.

Riza is optimistic that the target will be completed faster than the original target of December 2021.

"God willing, if we look at data like this, God willing, we hope it will be finished next month, from the year-end target, we are earlier than the previous target", said Riza.
