Controversy Of Civil Positions By Active TNI, Commander: Bulog President Director Will Resign

TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto said that the President Director (Managing Director) of Perum Bulog Major General (Mayjen) TNI Novi Helmy Prasetya would resign from his service as an active TNI soldier.

"Yes, step back, later we will resign. Later, if the TNI actively occupies from the ministry and the institution will retire early, it will resign from its official service," Agus said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, March 14.

The same thing was conveyed in relation to the status of Inspector General of the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) Major General Irham Waroihan who was still active TNI.

However, on the same occasion, the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Maruli Simanjuntak said that the confirmation of the resignation of the Director of Bulog and Inspector General of the Ministry of Agriculture to the TNI Headquarters would wait for the revision of Law Number 34 of 2004 concerning the TNI (RUU TNI) to come out first.

"Well, we'll see later, so the revised regulations will come out soon. If you have to go out, go out," said Maruli.

He then continued, "(Will it be withdrawn to TNI Headquarters) just waiting for the revision, yes."

It is known that the TNI Bill, which is being discussed in parliament, contains a proposal to add five civilian positions in ministries/agencies that can be occupied by active TNI, from previously 10 ministries/agencies to 15 ministries/agencies.

The several TNI officials who became the public's attention were Lt. Col. Inf. Teddy Indra Wijaya who served as Cabinet Secretary. Prior to taking the position, Teddy was still in the rank of major. Then, he received an promotion from the TNI Commander to Lieutenant Colonel (Letkol).

In addition, there is the Major General of the TNI Novi Helmy Prasetya who serves as President Director of PT Bulog. At the same time, Novi also served as Danjen of the TNI Academy.

The appointment of Novi as Director of Perum Bulog is based on the decision of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir with the issuance of the Decree of the Minister of SOEs Number: SK-30/MBU/02/2025 dated February 7, 2025.
