Police Say Brimob Who Slammed Students In Tangerang Violated Security SOPs

JAKARTA - The National Police stated that Brigadier NP, who went viral for slamming students, was declared to have violated the rules. However, the violation is related to the security standard operating procedure (SOP).

"At that time, the person concerned was carrying out the task of securing security during active demonstrations. In his security activities, the person concerned did not carry out his duties according to procedures," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Public Relations Division Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan to reporters, Thursday, October 14.

Thus, Ramadhan denied that Brigadier NP was involved in a criminal act. Because, at that time he was doing the task of securing the demonstration.

"On the other hand, the person in question is a member of the police who is doing his job. What is his job, the task of securing demonstrations," said Ramadhan.

However, when asked about the results of the interim examination, Ramadhan was reluctant to explain it. He only emphasized that the investigation process was still ongoing.

"We'll see what the results of the investigation from Propam are. It's clear, so it's not a context outside of work," said Ramadhan. For information, the incident began when a number of students held a demonstration in front of the Tangerang Regency Government Center (Puspemkab).

In a video that circulated, a student who was later identified as Faris was seen being slammed to the floor by an officer. This incident occurred when the Police secured a student demonstration right on the 389th Birthday of Tangerang Regency.

Faris was unconscious after being slammed in a violent demonstration that took place in Tangerang recently. Even so, the student admitted that he was in good health and only felt sore even though in the video the police slammed him against a hard surface.

"I'm not dead, now I'm still alive. In a normal condition, although a little sore," he said while introducing himself after being ordered by a policeman named Leonard.

What's worse, it turns out that Faris also admits that he hasn't had lunch. "Breakfast is done, but if you eat rice, you haven't," he said.
