Luhut: Compared To Singapore And Malaysia, Cases In Indonesia Are The Lowest

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that the case of COVID-19 in Indonesia was much better than in neighboring countries. This is known by Luhut from the Indonesian COVID-19 Recovery Index data released by NIKKEI.

"Compared to neighboring countries in ASEAN, Indonesia's case is among the lowest. Indonesia's ranking is already much better than Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand," said Luhut proudly in a virtual press conference, Monday, October 11.

He explained, daily confirmed cases of COVID-19 fell by 98.4 percent, and confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Java-Bali decreased to 98.9 percent from the peak of cases on July 15.

In addition to daily cases that continue to improve, the number of daily deaths in Indonesia also continues to decline. On October 10, there were only 39 deaths for the National and 17 for the Java and Bali regions.

Luhut continued, in today's weekly evaluation, the minimum requirement for elderly vaccination coverage to reduce PPKM levels from 3 to 2 and 2 to 1 which has been implemented since September 13, 2021, is able to significantly boost the speed of vaccination of the elderly in Java and Bali.

"Currently, the dose 1 vaccination rate for Java and Bali has reached 40 percent as of October 10, 2021, up 8 percent since September 13, 2021," he said.

As is known, the government has extended the Java-Bali PPKM from 5 to 18 October 2021. Currently, there are no regencies/cities that have implemented PPKM Level 4, as many as 107 districts/cities have implemented PPKM Level 3, 20 districts/cities have implemented Level 2, and 1 district is at Level 1.
