COVID-19 Update As Of October 9: 1,167 New Positive Cases, 52 People Died

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released data on the progress of handling COVID-19. Based on the results of the examination of 267,050 specimens as of 9 October, 1,167 new positive confirmed cases were found.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 4,227,038," quoted from Ministry of Health data, Saturday, October 9.

Then, the recovered cases also increased. In fact, the number exceeds the positive cases with 1,507 people. Thus, the cumulative total recovered cases reached 4,059,267 people.

Meanwhile, the number of deaths due to COVID-19 has increased by 52 people. With this addition, the cumulative total of deaths to 142,612 people.

Still referring to the data from the Ministry of Health, for the province with the highest number of additional positive cases, namely, Central Java. 145 people have tested positive for COVID-19.

Then, the provinces of West Java and East Java had the same number of positive confirmed cases, namely 117 cases. Meanwhile, for DKI Jakarta, there were 100 additional positive confirmed cases of COVID-19.

On the other hand, the most recovered cases were found in East Java Province with 159 cases.

Then, the second province with the most recovered cases was West Java with 123 cases. Next, North Kalimantan with 99 cases.

The provinces of East Java and DI Yogyakarta recorded the same number of recovered cases with 94 cases. Finally, DKI Jakarta with 84 cases recovered.

Furthermore, the number of specimens that have been examined has reached 41,383,754. In detail, as many as 26,099,464 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), 238,907 specimens using the rapid molecular test (TCM), and 15,045,383 specimens using antigen testing.

"The number of positive results per day with the number of specimens examined (positivity rate) is 0.74 percent," he wrote.

The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, was recorded at 292,253 people. Currently, 510 districts/cities from 34 provinces have COVID-19 cases.
