MEDAN - Police confiscated 34.7 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine in Sei Apung Village, Tanjung Balai, North Sumatra. This shabu comes from Malaysia.

"We have again succeeded in securing methamphetamine in Sei Apung Village, Tanjung Balai District, Asahan Regency, weighing 34.7 kilograms", said Asahan Police Chief, AKBP Putu Yudha Prawira, Monday, September 20.

The drug was first discovered by residents lying on the edge of an alley in the village.

"The residents first found it. Then they reported the matter to us", he said.

After being counted, there were 33 packs of yellow Chinese tea suspected of containing methamphetamine.

"After being weighed, there are 32 packages that are still intact, and 1 package has been opened. After weighing the total weight of 34.7 kilograms", he said.

From this discovery, the Asahan Police arrested the suspect IR, a resident of Sei Tualang Raso District, Tanjungbalai City.

The suspect was arrested on Lintas Sumatra Street, Kota Kisaran Barat Subdistrict, Asahan Regency when he was about to return to Tanjungbalai City.

"He fled to Siantar, then we secured him at Jalinsum Kisaran near the terminal", said AKBP Putu.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted that the methamphetamine came from Malaysia with an order to be sent by a person with the initials ZA. The suspect is known to be a drug addict.

"So after he got out of prison, he did it again and became a drug courier", he said.

According to the suspect's confession, he was paid IDR 100 million if he managed to bring the methamphetamine to Y's house, which is currently a DPO (wanted list). However, to date, the IR has not received the money from Y.

The suspect IR was charged with article 114 paragraph 2 subsidiary article 112 paragraph 2 of the Indonesian Law Number 35 concerning Narcotics.

"With the threat of life imprisonment or the death penalty", said Putu.
