The ICW Asks National Police Chief Sigit To Order His Staff To Read KPK Law Regarding Reporting Of Lili Pintauli

JAKARTA - Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) researcher Kurnia Ramadhana asked the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to order his staff, especially the Directorate of General Crimes (Dittipidum) of the National Police-Criminal Investigation Department, to read the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Law again.

This is the aftermath of a statement by the Director of General Crimes (Dirtipidum) of the Indonesian National Police, Brigadier General Andi Rian, who will not continue to file complaints of alleged violations of the law with KPK Deputy Chair Lili Pintauli Siregar as the reported party.

"ICW suggested to the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to ask his staff, in particular the Director of General Crimes at the National Police Indonesian National Police-Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim), to carefully read the duties and authorities of the KPK as stipulated in Law 30/2002 and Law 19/2019", Kurnia said in a written statement quoted on Monday, September 13.

He explained that based on the law, the KPK only handles corruption crimes and the police have the right to handle the violations committed by Lili.

Moreover, the complaint relates to Article 36 Point 1 in conjunction with Article 65 of the KPK Law regarding the prohibition of KPK leaders from having direct relationships with litigants.

"The ICW report is not related to the Anti-Corruption Law but is a violation of the KPK Law. Therefore, the police is an institution that has the authority to investigate these alleged violations", said Kurnia.

"These kinds of things should be understood by law enforcement, especially at the level of the Dirtipidum Bareskrim Polri", added the anti-corruption activist.

Moreover, the report on the alleged violation of the law by Lili is clear when referring to the decision of the KPK Supervisory Board. He was declared proven to have communicated directly with the litigants, namely the inactive Tanjungbalai Mayor M Syahrial.

Lili, said Kurnia, had even been given a severe sanction in the form of a 40 percent reduction in her basic salary for 12 months.

"Therefore, now the problem is not being able or not being able to, but whether or not the police will take action against the alleged violation", he said.

As previously reported, the National Police's Criminal Investigation Unit stated that it would submit ICW's complaint regarding Lili's violations to the KPK because the matter was within the authority of the anti-corruption agency.

"The incident conveyed by ICW in its letter is the domain of the KPK, investigators will delegate the letter to the KPK", said the Director of General Crimes at the Criminal Investigation Department.

Police Brigadier General Adi Rian when confirmed, Friday, September 10. However, Andi did not specify the reasons behind the delegation. Including when the letter from ICW was transferred to the KPK.
