Defendant Of Murder Of 3-Year-Old Child In Serang Sued 14 Years In Prison

SERANG - The defendant in the murder of a 3-year-old biological child in Cibarugbug Village, Citangman Village, Ciomas District named Agus (30) was sentenced to 14 years in prison.

The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Serang Kejari, Budi Atmoko, stated that Agus was proven to have abused children and caused death.

"Sentenced Agus Bin (late) Suta to 14 years in prison," he said at the Serang District Court (PN) as reported by ANTARA, Monday, January 20.

In front of the chairman of the panel of judges, Agus is said to have been proven to have violated Article 80 paragraph (3) Jo. Paragraph (4) of Law No. 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection as stated in the third indictment of the Public Prosecutor.

Regarding mitigating circumstances, Budi said, Agus had never been convicted before and he admitted that he was sorry and promised not to repeat his actions.

As for the aggravating situation, Agus' actions caused his 3-year-old biological child to die, which disturbed the public. He was also convoluted in providing information during the trial.

"The defendant is the biological father of victim Nur Laila and the defendant's act resulted in the victim's child's death," said Budi.

After listening to the prosecutor's demands, Agus through his attorney said he would read out the pledoi at the next trial which will be held next week.

Previously, Agus was a defendant in the murder of his son who was still a toddler on June 18, 2024. At that time Agus slept in the room with his 3-year-old wife and child. At around 03.00 WIB, the defendant woke up and saw his wife and child fast asleep. Instantly also appeared in Agus's mind to kill his son.

After killing his son, the defendant fled to the rice fields and plantations of residents. Agus was later arrested by the police a few hours after escaping. From the results of psychological examinations, in addition to the history of using Napza, Agus' intelligence is also below the average person in general.

Agus also escaped from the Serang City Police cell on July 25, 2024. He fled at around 06.20 WIB, when the picket officer had just cleaned the environment.

The police only found out that they had escaped after being informed by other detainees. Four days later the defendant was arrested again by the police in a mountainous area in Wangun Village, Padarincang District, Serang Regency, Banten.
