Ensure Security, Komnas HAM Is Ready To Pick Up MS Central KPI Employees If Needed

JAKARTA - The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) seeks to provide comfort to MS, an employee of the Central Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) who claims to be harassed and bullied by his co-workers.

Komnas HAM Commissioner Beka Ulung Hapsara even said that his party was ready to pick up MS to provide security.

"If you want, we will provide a security pick-up for security and so on. That's the current principle," Beka said as broadcast on the Indonesian Human Rights Commission's Public Relations YouTube, Friday, September 4.

In addition, his institution is also ready to accommodate if MS asks for a statement not to be carried out at the Komnas HAM office.

"So the most important thing is, it's comfortable for the victim. It's safe for the victim too," said Beka.

"In principle, we respect the victim. As long as the victim is not comfortable and has not decided to give information to Komnas HAM, we certainly respect that," he added.

As previously reported, MS said he was a victim of sexual harassment and bullying by seven of his more senior colleagues.

One of the sexual harassments she experienced was in 2015, when the perpetrators ganged up on her head, hands, feet, stripped her naked, pinned her, and abused her.

Related to this case, the Criminal Investigation Police also intervened to investigate this matter. In fact, a team of investigators has been deployed.

However, the Director of General Crimes at the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Brigadier General Andi Rian, has not been able to comment much on the matter. He emphasized that the team that was deployed would seek information and instructions first.

In addition, MS has also reported this case to the Central Jakarta Metro Police on Wednesday, September 1 last night. When reporting, he was accompanied by the Central KPI Commissioner, Nuning Rodiyah.
