Khofifah: Thank God, Currently East Java Is Free From The COVID-19 Red Zone

SURABAYA - East Java Province finally had zero red zones as of August 31. East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa said this condition occurred because of the efforts of various parties, in suppressing COVID-19 cases in East Java.

"Thank God, based on data from the National COVID-19 Task Force as of August 31, 2021, East Java has been freed from the red zone with the risk of spreading", said Khofifah, in Surabaya, Wednesday, September 1.

Of the 38 regencies/cities in East Java, 18 regions include the yellow zone, namely Sidoarjo, Sumenep, Mojokerto, Lamongan, Pamekasan, Pasuruan, Surabaya City, Banyuwangi, Probolinggo, Sampang, Ngawi, Situbondo, Bojonegoro, Bangkalan, Tuban, Jombang, Pasuruan City, and Bondowoso.

While the remaining 20 regencies/cities are in the orange zone, namely Ponorogo, Madiun City, Madiun, Blitar, Tulungagung, Malang City, Nganjuk, Lumajang, Jember, Mojokerto City, Trenggalek, Malang, Magetan, Gresik, Kediri City, Pacitan, Kediri, Blitar City, Batu City, and Probolinggo City.

"Thank you to all levels of society who have worked hard and fought, let's continue to comply with health protocols and accelerate vaccination to lead East Java to Rise", she said.

According to Khofifah, knowing the zoning position of an area is an important thing at this time. Due to the development of the COVID-19 risk map zoning, it becomes one of the references in determining actions and policies.

Moreover, said Khofifah, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has limited and affected people's activities in almost all sectors. Mainly, in the midst of the implementation of the Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) level in East Java.

"Every policy or action that will be taken, must be adjusted to the zoning of the risk map of an area, in addition to its level position. As the City of Surabaya is currently in the yellow zone and is at level 3, it will affect the policies taken by the Surabaya City Government. Likewise other areas", she said.

For this reason, Khofifah requested that all parties continue to work together and work together in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. There are many aspects that must be considered, including the acceleration of vaccination in East Java. On the upstream side is the implementation of health protocols and vaccinations. "We have to protect and prioritize this.
