Two Years Of The House Of Representatives Commemorating The Anniversary Of The Pandemic, Mrs. Maharani: The State Cannot Surrender

JAKARTA - The Indonesian House of Representatives commemorates the 76th Anniversary by holding a plenary meeting, Tuesday, August 31. Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, said that it had been two years since the anniversary was commemorated during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The pandemic has had a very broad impact on people's lives and in the administration of the state government", said Puan in her speech.

In dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic situation and its wide-ranging impact, Puan reminded that the state cannot give up.

"The state must make the best efforts so that it can continue to carry out the tasks of state goals, public services, and national development", said Puan.

According to her, the principle of people's safety is the highest principle in the administration of the state government to deal with the crisis. Therefore, Kat Puan, various efforts and policies of the state government in saving the people must get support from all parties.

"The Indonesian House of Representatives has a high commitment in supporting various efforts, policies, and programs of the state government in saving the people from facing the pandemic and its effects", explained Puan.

Puan said the Indonesian House of Representatives appreciates and supports the government's efforts in overcoming the pandemic and its impact on the health, social, economic, and cultural fields. However, she said, the government must continue to improve its performance in handling the pandemic.

"This is shown through more solid policy coordination, synergized implementation of pandemic handling, and more effective handling of people's affairs affected by the pandemic", said Puan.

Puan added that the House of Representatives in dealing with the pandemic situation continues to make its best efforts so that it can carry out its constitutional functions optimally.

"Restrictions on physical attendance at Indonesian House of Representatives meetings are optimized so as not to reduce the quality of substance in the formation of laws, discussion of the state budget, monitoring of government performance", said Puan.
