Rizieq Shihab's Attorney And The Prosecutor Both Didn't Attend The Court Of Appeal Decision In The UMMI Hospital Case

JAKARTA - Public Relations of the DKI Jakarta High Court, Binsar Pamopo Pakpahan said that the Public Prosecutor team and attorneys from Rizieq Shihab and Hanif Alatas were not present at the trial of the appeal decision of the UMMI hospital swab result. In fact, they previously stated that they would attend.

"(The attorney) was not present at the trial", Binsar told reporters on Monday, August 30.

Based on the information received, said Binsar, Rizieq's legal team will participate in the trial. However, until the time the trial will begin, the defendant's attorneys are not present in the courtroom.

In fact, the panel of judges had given time to wait for the legal team. However, they still didn't come.

"We received a notification that they planned to attend but until the trial schedule was held, the assembly was waiting until no one was present. So the trial was completed without the presence of the public prosecutor or attorney", Binsar said.

Meanwhile, the Jakarta High Court panel of judges also upheld the first-degree verdict for the defendant Rizieq Shihab in the case of the swab results of the Bogor UMMI Hospital. So, Rizieq was still sentenced to four years in prison.

In the first instance verdict, Rizieq Shihab was found guilty in the UMMI hospital swab case. Rizieq was sentenced to four years in prison.

In that case, Rizieq was declared to have violated Rizieq's Article 14 paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning the Criminal Law Regulations Jo Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.

Similarly, the panel of judges also upheld the verdict in the first instance for Rizieq's son-in-law, Habib Hanif Alatas, and the President Director of RS UMMI Bogor, dr. Andi Tatat. So, they are still sentenced to imprisonment for one year.
