JAKARTA - There is no room for error in planning a summit between President Vladimir Putin and President Donald Trump, senior Russian diplomats said.
Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said Moscow and Washington should work hard to prepare for a potential meeting of the two leaders, warning that the stakes are very high and any mistakes will be catastrophic.
"Until now, all we have is an understanding of the principles, what the president discussed. We have to prepare for this meeting well," he told TASS as quoted on May 22.
"There is no room for error or, moreover, for event failure. Preparation here is complicated, first of all that is a substance, then a place," explained Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov.
Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov added that it was too early to discuss the specific date of the summit's planned meeting.
Earlier, Russian President Yury Ushakov said Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump were both interested in meeting in the future, but wanted their talks to be productive.
