Two Men With Tattoos And Carrying Sickles Are Arrested By Police For Alleged Thug

JAKARTA - Two young men with tattoos were caught carrying sharp weapons and were secured by the East Jakarta Metro Police Rajawali Team. The two men were arrested because they were proven to have kept two sharp knife types in a bag and a cellphone which was suspected to be the result of a crime.

The perpetrators were arrested from the area of DI Panjaitan Street, Jatinegara. The two perpetrators wore black t-shirts, white pants, and sneakers. While one other perpetrator was seen to have undressed.

When arrested, the two young men did not confess. But the police still suspect that these two young men are the perpetrators of street crimes. This was confirmed by the discovery of 2 sickle blades.

"No, sir, for God's sake (not a robber). There was someone who asked for help, move aside," said the perpetrator when he was arrested.

"I am not, sir, he's asking for help. I just finished watching, sir. I don't know anything. I want to go home, he asked for a ride, sir," said the perpetrator.

Hearing the perpetrator's complaint, the police did not believe it. When searched, two sharp weapons were found.

"Where are you going? You are carrying a bag, used by that young man in a black shirt. Are you a thug? Why are you carrying that kind of thing?

The police confiscated cellphones and weapons to be used as evidence. Then came a local woman who claimed to have lost her cellphone.

Melly said that her cellphone was lost while it was being charged above the gallon of her house.

"The cellphone is being charged over a gallon. Usually, it's being charged again, my son wakes up asking if his cellphone is missing or not? I have 2 (lost) cellphones," he said.

For further processing, the two perpetrators were then put into a patrol car and handed over to the Jatinegara Police. Wakatim 1 SGC Rajawali Bripka Markon Samuel Pasaribu said that after receiving the information, his party immediately checked the location on Prumpung Street.

"It was true, we saw that there were two motorbikes. One motorbike contained two ride-hailing people and the other motorbike was alone. However, there was one who ran away," he said.

The police managed to arrest the two perpetrators. Upon inspection, a sharp knife was found in the suspect's bag. In addition to the gun, the police also confiscated cellphones around the location.

"He is suspected of committing a crime and committing a robbery in the Prumpung area, East Jakarta," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Jatinegara Police, Commissioner Yusuf, confirmed that 2 youths were arrested for storing sharp weapons.

"There are 2 people who carry sharp weapons, we will continue the process. The perpetrators were arrested last Saturday night. He wanted to fight, not robbers. Both of them were charged with the emergency law for keeping a knife," he said when confirmed by VOI, Sunday, August 29.
