DPR Requests Tightened Use Of Weapons In The Aftermath Of Police Shooting Police Case In West Sumatra

JAKARTA - Member of Commission III DPR RI M. Nasir Djamil asked the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to tighten the use of firearms by police officers, such as evaluations within a certain period of time.

This urge was revealed in the aftermath of the shooting of the South Solok Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Ryanto Ulil Anshar by the Head of Ops of the South Solok Police, AKP Dadang Iskandar.

"There must be periodic tests to ensure the physical and mental health of the officers who are authorized to carry firearms. Weapons should not be used carelessly, especially for personal conflicts," Nasir told reporters, Sunday, November 24.

Nasir demanded that the perpetrators of the police shooting police in West Sumatra (West Sumatra) be strictly sanctioned. It is also necessary to consider the death penalty for the perpetrators to be considered in order to provide a deterrent effect as well as a lesson to the officers who use firearms.

This is because the procedure for using firearms has been clearly regulated based on Perkapolri Number 8 of 2009 in Article 47 paragraph 1 and Perkapolri Number 8 of 2009 concerning the Implementation of Human Rights Principles and Standards in the Implementation of Tasks of the State Police of the Republic of Indonesia.

"This is very embarrassing. Officials should maintain security, not be a problem," said Nasir.

Previously, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that the police shooting case that occurred at the South Solok Police was not motivated by internal problems.

So far, AKP Dadang Iskandar's motive for shooting dead the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Solok Police, AKP Ulil Ryanti Anshari, because he did not like the crackdown on illegal mining in excavation C.

If you look at the article that is suspected, namely Article 340 of the Criminal Code, then AKP Dadang Iskandar faces a maximum sentence, namely the death penalty.
