COVID-19 Update As Of August 28: New Cases 10,500, Healed 18,594

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. The cumulative total of cases is 4,066,404. Meanwhile, new cases per data today reached 10,050 people.

Meanwhile, the number of recovered cases today increased by 18,594 people, bringing the total to 3,707,850 recovered. Meanwhile, the positive confirmed cases who died increased by 591 people and a total of 131,372 people.

The province with the newest cases was in East Java with 1,079 new cases and a total of 380,623. Followed by West Java with 956 new cases and a total of 688,667 cases. Then, Central Java 749 new cases and a total of 467,661.

Then, North Sumatra with the addition of 741 new cases and the total cases reached 94,509. Then, DI Yogyakarta with 525 new cases and a total of 148,744 cases. Followed by Bali with 474 new cases and a total of 105,851. DKI Jakarta with 468 new cases and a total of 849,369 cases.

It was also reported that there were 9 provinces that reported the addition of new cases below 100, namely Riau Islands 99 cases; West Nusa Tenggara 81 cases; West Sulawesi 60 cases; Bengkulu 51 cases; Gorontalo 50 cases; North Maluku 27 cases; Southeast Sulawesi 26 cases; West Papua 8 cases and Maluku 3 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today is East Java with an increase of 1,928 cases. Then, followed by West Java 1,652 cases recovered, South Sulawesi 1,323 cases, DI Yogyakarta 1,054 cases, Riau 1,037 cases, South Kalimantan 989 cases, and Bali 824 cases.

"The highest death cases were in East Java with 167 people. Followed by Central Java 54, Bali 34, Riau 33, DI Yogyakarta 31, West Java and North Sumatra each 29, and South Sulawesi 25," as quoted from Ministry of Health data, Saturday, August 28.

In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined per day is 181,674. Meanwhile, cumulatively it reached 31,691,247. As for the details, 22,848,397 were examined by RT-PCR, 225,678 by the TMC method, and 8,617,172 antigens were examined.

"For the number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, it is recorded at 248,139 people," he said.

Then, the weekly positivity rate for people from 22 to 28 August 2021 is 13.42 percent. While the daily positivity rate is 10.55 percent.

Currently, 786,703 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination, bringing the total to 61,222,258.

While the second dose of vaccination was 581,618 people with a cumulative total of 34,702,821 people. Meanwhile, the vaccination target reached 208,256,720 people.
