Viral Video Dog Shot And Dragged In Malang, Police Intervenes

MALANG - A 1-minute 11-second video has gone viral on social media. The video shows a dog being shot and then dragged in the Dieng Hill area, Malang City, East Java.

This video was first uploaded by the Sarana Metta Indonesia Foundation Instagram account @christian_joshuapale. In the video, a man can be seen carrying an air rifle and suddenly shooting the dog at close range.

Shortly after, the dog that was shot was dragged away by another man. This video has angered netizens.

The video uploader urged the police to investigate this case. Meanwhile, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Malang City Police, Commissioner Tinton Yudha Riambodo, confirmed that he was investigating the shooting of the dog.

"We will investigate and have investigated. We also get a lot of info coming into us and we are still researching one by one. Hopefully, there will be good results later," he told reporters.

Although no reports have been received yet, according to Tinton, the dog shooting case is still being investigated for the misuse of an air rifle.

''For training, it's okay, but if you shoot people it's wrong especially animals. The animal is also protected by the state. Later we can snare Article 302," he said.
