JAKARTA - PT United Tractors Tbk (UT), a subsidiary of PT Astra International Tbk (Astra), strengthens the readiness of village communities in facing potential disasters through the implementation of Training of Trainers (ToT) Kampung Tangguh Bencana (KATANA).

This activity is part of United Tractors' commitment to supporting the social contribution of the Astra Group by strengthening the capacity of village communities so that they are more prepared, responsive, and self-sufficient in facing various disaster threats.

During the training, participants received training on disaster risk reduction, mitigation, preparedness, and emergency response facilitated directly by BNPB.

"Through the KATANA Training of Trainers, UT together with BNPB is trying to strengthen the capacity of village cadres so that they can become facilitators and at the same time be the driving force for preparedness in the community. We believe that people who have knowledge and ability in disaster mitigation will be more prepared to face various risks, so that the villages can grow into more resilient, independent, and capable areas," said Himawan in a written statement, Wednesday, July 8.

The program, which was held in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), took place on June 22-26, 2026 at the UT School Surabaya, East Java.

This training was attended by the Disaster-Resistant Village cadres from the villages of PT United Tractors Tbk, which are members of the Disaster Risk Reduction Forum (FPRB). They come from Sumbergondo Village, Tulungrejo, Giripurno, Mojorejo, Gumingsir, Tawangargo, Aribaya, and Sumbermujur.

In addition to village cadres, the activity also involved representatives of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Malang Regency, Batu City, Banjarnegara Regency, Lumajang Regency, and the East Java Provincial BPBD as strategic partners in strengthening synergy in disaster risk reduction.

During the five days of implementation, participants attended various learning sessions which included pre-tests, material delivery, role plays, to simulations which were all conducted face-to-face. The method was designed so that participants not only understand the concept of disaster mitigation, but also are able to apply it when facing emergency conditions.

Through this program, United Tractors hopes that participants can become facilitators in their respective areas who are able to educate the public about the importance of preparedness and disaster risk reduction. The presence of these cadres is expected to strengthen the culture of disaster awareness at the village level as well as encourage the realization of a more resilient, independent, and ready community to face various threats.

The implementation of the KATANA ToT is one form of commitment from PT United Tractors Tbk as part of PT Astra International Tbk in providing added value for the community through a sustainable social responsibility program.

Together with stakeholders, United Tractors will continue to support the strengthening of community capacity as part of efforts to build a safer, resilient, and sustainable environment.
