PPKM Bandung Down To Level 3, Mayor Oded: Residents Must Be Careful, Don't Euphoria

BANDUNG - Bandung Mayor, Oded M Danial, asked the public not to carry out euphoric activities after the central government declared the Bandung area to be PPKM (Community Activity Restrictions) Level 3.

"Alhamdulillah, we must be grateful, but the sign of gratitude is that we should not be euphoric, we will be grateful", said Oded in Bandung, West Java, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, August 24.

According to Oded, during the PPKM Level 3 period, people must be more careful to prevent a new wave of COVID-19. Because if there is excessive euphoria, the potential for COVID-19 transmission will increase again.

"I still urge the residents of Bandung to be careful, don't be euphoric", he said.

Previously, President Joko Widodo announced that several agglomeration areas are now PPKM Level 3. These include Greater Jakarta, Greater Bandung, Greater Surabaya, and several other regencies and cities.

The status reduction was carried out because confirmed cases of COVID-19 had continued to decline since July 15, 2021. In addition, the number of beds in hospital isolation rooms at the national level has also fallen.

Meanwhile, in Bandung City, based on data from the COVID-19 Task Force, the number of active confirmed cases now stands at 2,103 people. Meanwhile, on August 17, 2021, the number of active confirmed cases was 4,013 people.

However, the decline was volatile, because, on August 16, 2021, the number of confirmed active people had dropped to 1,631 people and then rose again. The increase ranged from tens to hundreds, then reached back to the figure of 2,000 more at this time.

In addition, the number of additional deaths since August 1, 2021, in the city of Bandung has begun to decline. So far, there have been 1,377 deaths with confirmed COVID-19 status.

Since the beginning of August, the number of deaths per day has never reached tens, only in the dozens. Whereas previously in July 2021, the number of deaths per day had touched 82 people.
