JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo gave a sign of love in the form of a bicycle to a pedestrian from Wonosobo, Central Java, Mahmudin (63). Mahmudin walked 470 km from his house to the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta to welcome the 76th Indonesian Independence Day.
The bicycle gift from President Jokowi was handed over by Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko to Mahmudin at the Bina Graha Building, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 18.
"This is not the first time Mr. Mahmudin has done this. So the President appreciates him for his enthusiasm for celebrating independence", said Moeldoko in a KSP press release received in Jakarta, Antara.
The bicycle as a gift from the President is red and white and has the words 'President Jokowi's gift' written on it. In addition to giving gifts in the form of bicycles, President Jokowi also gave gifts of independence to Mahmudin.
Mahmudin, who is a resident of Gandoran Hamlet, Mlandi Village, Garung District, Wonosobo Regency, Central Java, came to the Palace with several attributes such as the Red and White flag and traditional Javanese clothes.
According to Mahmudin, the Wonosobo-State Palace walk was not the first time. Mahmudin has walked to the Palace four times every August 17 since 2017, 2019, 2020, and this year.
