Deputy Governor Awaits For Central Government's Decision Regarding The Fate Of PPKM In Jakarta

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria admitted that he was still waiting for the central government's decision regarding the fate of Level 4 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in the capital city. As is known, today is the last day of PPKM implementation.

"This is the last day of Level 4 PPKM. We are waiting for the central government's announcement whether PPKM is extended to level 4 or not, or what", said Riza at City Hall, Central Jakarta, Monday, August 16.

Riza said the DKI Provincial Government would carry out the decisions taken by the central government by issuing derivative regulations and implementing them in the field.

"The provincial government will carry out decisions made by the central government in accordance with its authority. Our job is to ensure that the policies taken can be implemented properly, with full discipline and responsibility", he said.

On that occasion, Riza explained the development of COVID-19 cases in the Capital City. He said the daily increase in cases as of August 15 was 1.182 cases.

The current death rate for COVID-19 cases is 1.5 percent and the recovery rate is 97.3 percent. The occupancy of COVID-19 isolation beds is 27 and the ICU is 50 percent.

Then, the COVID-19 vaccination in Jakarta has been carried out to 9.017.051 people in the first dose and 4.260.251 in the second dose. However, Riza admitted that 40 percent of residents who were vaccinated in the capital were non-DKI residents.

"We don't make a difference. Hopefully, Jakarta can complete the 11 million target in the next few weeks. Thank God DKI has entered the green zone. Vaccines are increasing. We ask people to be careful, stay at home, and continue to maintain health protocols", he explained.

For information, the PPKM period which had previously been extended will end today starting August 10.

Based on the implementation of PPKM from August 10 to August 16, 2021, there are 71 out of 128 regencies/cities in the Java-Bali region which are at level 4. In the past week, there was 1 district/city which dropped from level 3 to level 2 and 26 districts /cities that dropped from level 4 to 3.
