JAKARTA - TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto ordered his staff to send medical equipment assistance from the Indonesian Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation to Sumatra through the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base.

"The aid was sent using a C-130 Hercules transport aircraft of the Indonesian Air Force which took off from the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, East Jakarta today", said Head of the Indonesian National Armed Forces Center for Penum Puspen, Edys Riyanto, as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, August 10.

The C-130 Hercules transport plane flying the relief materials was led by pilot Major Aleg Chandra of the 31st Air Squadron based at the airbase.

The C-130 Hercules from the 31st TNI AU Air Squadron carried 175 boxes of medical equipment consisting of oxygen concentrators and nasal cannula tubes for Padang and Medan.

According to him, 50 oxygen concentrators and 1,000 nasal cannula tubes were sent to the Indonesian Air Force Sutan Sjahrir Air Base in Padang, West Sumatra, while 100 oxygen concentrators and 2,000 nasal cannula tubes were sent to the Suwondo Air Force Base in Medan, North Sumatra.

Previously, last Monday, the TNI also flew a similar aid using C-130 Hercules for Bangka Belitung Province.
