Mojtaba Khamenei Appears in Public, Discusses Economy-Military with Iranian President

JAKARTA - Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei met with President Masoud Pezeshkian, Sunday (9/8) to discuss the latest developments in Iran's economic, military and defense situation.

The meeting was Mojtaba's first appearance in front of the public and the media after previously being behind the scenes for five months.

"The leader of the Islamic Revolution met and spoke with the President about economic and military issues," said a statement on the Iranian leader's Telegram channel, as reported by Sputnik, Monday, August 10.

The statement said the two discussed extensively on issues and problems of the country, especially ensuring the fulfillment of the basic needs of the people, the current situation of the Third War which was imposed with a view to the future, and developments in the military field.

Khamenei and Pezeshkian discussed Iran's economic and financial situation, especially the situation of the Iranian national currency, the rial, the energy sector, and Iran's economic cooperation with foreign countries, the Supreme Leader's media said.

The statement came after a video showing Khamenei was circulated by Iranian media.

Previously, Khamenei had not appeared in public or in the media for five months, since the start of the conflict between Iran and the United States. The statement itself did not comment on the appearance of the video featuring Khamenei.
