Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Promises Travel To ASEAN For Healthcare Workers If The Pandemic Is Over

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno promised to give rewards or gifts to health workers in the form of tour packages to ASEAN countries after the COVID-19 pandemic.

"After the pandemic subsides, we will give rewards in the form of attractive tour packages to health workers to take a break and experience tourism in ASEAN", said Sandi, quoted from his personal Twitter account, Saturday, July 31.

Furthermore, Sandi said the prize was given because health workers have been struggling for more than 1.5 years in handling COVID-19 in the country.

"They are the front line to be able to control COVID so that the economy rises and jobs grow again", he said.

This tour package plan for health workers has also been conveyed directly by Sandiaga in a video teleconference with the President of the ASEAN Business Club, Tan Sri Dr. Munir.

Sandi said that the provision of tour packages for health workers is planned to be carried out through a travel corridor arrangement mechanism between Indonesia and Malaysia and Singapore.

With this tourism collaboration, Sandiaga hopes that Indonesian tourism will soon rise and create new jobs. As is known, the tourism and creative economy sectors have been greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Not only that, but Sandiaga also proposed to promote joint tourism in ASEAN with a pilot project.

"Currently, we must begin to prioritize collaboration so that we can rise together in difficult times, by focusing on and maximizing regional tourism potential first, before opening it gradually to all countries", he said.
