Ojol And Opang Cannot Transport Passengers At 66 RW DKI

JAKARTA - Online ojek (ojol) and ojek pangkalan (opang) officially re-operated during the Jakarta transitional PSBB period today. Two-wheeled transportation must follow protocols to prevent transmission of COVID-19.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, said there are a number of rules that must be applied by ojol and opang in transporting passengers. First, wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) at least in the form of a mask and providing hand sanitizers.

"Two-wheeled drivers in carrying passengers are also obliged to maintain the cleanliness of their motorbikes and passenger helmets by regularly disinfecting them after each transport," said Syafrin in a statement received by VOI, Monday, June 8.

Ojol, said Syafrin, is also obliged to use a jacket and helmet with the application company identity. This is to differentiate between ojol and private motorbike drivers who are still prohibited from traveling along with their family.

Furthermore, ojol and opang are not allowed to operate and transport passengers in the Jakarta area which is designated as a tightly controlled area on a local scale.

This area is 66 RW which are still designated as the red zone in Jakarta. Details of 66 red zone RWs can be seen on the official COVID-19 website of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government corona.jakarta.go.id.

In addition, continued Syafrin, the destruction of online transportation service providers such as Gojek and Grab must apply geofencing regulations to avoid operating in 66 RWs with the red zone status.

"With this arrangement, motorcycle taxi drivers cannot operate in areas designated as strict local scale controls," said Syafrin.
