JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) provides free oxygen transportation of 122 tons via rail transportation with the route from Kalimas Station, Surabaya to Sungai Lagoa Station, Jakarta on Friday, July 16.

Oxygen transportation belonging to PT Virtue Dragon Nickel Industrial Park for the Ministry of Health is transported in two ISO Tank wagons, each containing 28 tons of oxygen and 3 container carriages each containing 22 tons of oxygen.

"This free delivery of oxygen is a form of KAI's support in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic during the Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) period", said KAI's VP of Public Relations Joni Martinus in a statement, Sunday, July 18.

Joni emphasized that KAI has consistently fully supported all government efforts to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic. The increase in COVID-19 cases continues to occur and has caused a spike in the national oxygen demand.

This oxygen is needed by COVID-19 patients both in hospitals and in isolation. During this Emergency PPKM period, KAI through its subsidiary KAI Logistik presented a promo by eliminating the cost of transporting oxygen and empty oxygen cylinders using trains for non-commercial purposes.

This service is intended for the transportation of oxygen and empty oxygen cylinders with the aim of sending them to hospitals or other places determined by the Ministry, Regional Government, or other institutions appointed by the government as oxygen collection centers for these humanitarian actions.

"This promo aims to simplify and accelerate the distribution of oxygen for people who are undergoing treatment for COVID-19", said Joni.

For complete terms and conditions related to free oxygen transportation using this train, the public can contact the KAI Logistics call center on Phone 150121, email [email protected] and WhatsApp at (+62)81388223205 as well as on social media Instagram @kalogistics, Twitter @KA_Logistics, and Facebook RailroadLogistics.

Joni said that the advantages of transporting goods by train include scheduled delivery times, on time, being more environmentally friendly, and safe.

"KAI itself has obtained a special permit from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry to transport B3 (Hazardous and Toxic Materials) for the DG class 2 category, which is in the form of gas", said Joni.

The presence of this free oxygen delivery service and empty oxygen cylinders is expected to be utilized as well as possible so that more and more people who need oxygen for COVID-19 treatment can be handled immediately.
