South Kalimantan Police Reveals Case Of Methamphetamine Packaged In Plastic Rice For Social Assitance

BANJARMASIN - The Directorate of Drug Investigation of the South Kalimantan Police revealed the mode of traffickers by packing methamphetamine into plastic rice for social assistance.

"So during the search of the evidence, three packs of 12.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine were found hidden in plastic rice for social assistance by suspect TJ (37)", said Head of Sub-Directorate 1 of the Narcotics Directorate of the South Kalimantan Police AKBP Meilki Bharata, in Banjarmasin, quoted by Antara, Thursday, July 15.

During the arrest in Kertak Baru Ilir Village, Central Banjarmasin District, Banjarmasin City on Wednesday, July 14, the perpetrator also threw away evidence of a package of 25.22 grams of methamphetamine when he learned of the arrival of officers.

The total narcotics confiscated from the suspect were four packages of methamphetamine weighing 37.22 grams, as well as IDR 1,600,000 in cash which was known to be the result of the sale transaction.

The suspect, who is only a casual laborer, is confirmed to be actively involved in the drug business. This was confirmed by the discovery of a digital scale at his residence not far from the location of the arrest.

"We are still developing to reveal the city above that controls the suspect", said Meilki representing the Director of Drug Investigation at the South Kalimantan Police, Kombes Tri Wahyudi.

Even though it is suspected to be only a courier, investigators still act firmly by the rule of law by ensnaring the suspect in Article 114 paragraph (2) subsidiary to Article 112 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

"The evidence on the suspect is quite large. That's why we remind you again, don't try to get involved in the drug business because you will eventually get caught", said Meilki.
