Fleet Command II Prepares 2,000 Beds For COVID-19 Patients In Surabaya

SURABAYA - Fleet Command II prepared as many as 2,000 additional beds for COVID-19 patients in the city of Surabaya. This additional mattress is targeted to be fulfilled in the next two weeks.

"But we pray that no one will fill this bed", said Commander of the Second Army Command Rear Admiral, Iwan Isnurwanto, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, July 14.

Koarmada II, he said, was moved to help thousands of new beds after as many as 70 of its personnel were exposed to COVID-19, but had to queue at the Emergency Installation of the Dr. Ramelan Naval Hospital Surabaya when they needed medical treatment.

He detailed, the plan is as many as 1,000 beds of which will be placed at the Dr. Ramelan Naval Hospital Surabaya.

"So, at the Dr. Ramelan Naval Hospital Surabaya, we will open new rooms with a capacity of 1,000 beds for COVID-19 patients", he continued.

In addition to the 1,000 beds in the new rooms, Laksda Iwan also said Dr. Ramelan Naval Hospital Surabaya would open another 200 beds for COVID-19 patients.

"Then, we will place another 800 beds for COVID-19 patients at the Marine Corps Base on Opak Street Surabaya", he said.

A total of 2,000 beds, continued Commander of the Fleet Command II, were prepared as a measure to anticipate the surge in COVID-19 patients.

"I have reported it to the East Java Governor, Khofifah Indar Parawansa. Again, hopefully, the beds we have prepared are unused. We are only preparing ourselves in case there is a surge in COVID-19 patients", he said.

On the other hand, the Navy's social service by organizing COVID-19 vaccinations for maritime communities is intensively carried out starting today, starting in four sub-districts of the coastal area of Lamongan Regency, East Java.

"Social services by providing COVID-19 vaccination facilities for maritime communities will continue to be carried out continuously to other coastal areas. Including islands in the Fleet Command II area that are deemed necessary, using Indonesian Navy ships", he said.
