WAMENA - The Papuan Provincial Government has banned teachers spread across 29 districts and cities, who have not taken the COVID-19 vaccination, from entering classes to teach.

Head of the Papua Province Education, Library, and Regional Archives Service (DPPA), Christian Sohilait, confirmed that strict action would be taken against teachers who resisted and entered class without taking previous vaccinations.

"I have conveyed to all department heads and school principals, don't give space to teachers who are not vaccinated but want to go to school. It's a danger to other people. It's not allowed", Christian said, quoted by Antara, Thursday, July 1.

Christian hopes that before face-to-face activities at schools are opened on July 12, the percentage of teachers who have been vaccinated will increase because not all teachers have been vaccinated.

"I appeal to the teachers. When the time to open schools on June 12, I just urge us to take part in vaccines. Vaccines are important, reducing us to die", he said.

Some of the factors that hinder teachers from taking vaccines are because they receive false information about vaccinations, which makes them afraid.

"As the head of the service, I want to convey that the deadly vaccine is not true. I am the first person to get vaccinated in Papua, representing the Governor of Papua, I am the first person and today I am still healthy. Therefore, do not believe in hoaxes", he said.

Christian invites teachers who are not healthy so they cannot be vaccinated to maintain their health so that they can immediately follow the COVID-19 vaccination.

"If the body is not ready for vaccines, let's learn to take care of health so that it is ready, for example, blood pressure should not be high", said Christian.
