Masses Of Rizieq Shihab's Supporters Keep Arriving, Lawyers Ask For Faster Session

JAKARTA - Rizieq Shihab's team of lawyers asked the panel of judges to speed up the trial of the UMMI Hospital's swab test case with the defendant Rizieq Shihab. The reason, to prevent things that are not desirable.

The request began when the panel of judges opened the trial with the agenda for reading the verdict. Then, the team of lawyers interrupted the panel of judges.

The team of lawyers requested that the trial process be accelerated by combining all the defendants in the case. Because the masses of Rizieq's sympathizers kept coming to the East Jakarta District Court area.

"The Honorable Judges, please consider that if it is allowed, it is better if all three enter, even though it is a different case but one series, the first is for time considerations. Second, if for example, it goes faster because there are quite a lot of people outside, we are worried, so for example it is too late. For a long time, we were worried that something undesirable would happen," said one of Rizieq's lawyers during the trial, Thursday, June 24.

However, the panel of judges could not decide on that request. The judge must consult first to make a decision.

Meanwhile, the prosecutor who was asked for an opinion regarding the request did not make a problem with it. The prosecutor agreed to unite the trial of all the defendants.

At the time of deliberation, the judge decided that the verdict trials would still be held one by one. However, to speed up the time, his party did not read the witness statements in his decision.

"The assembly has carried out deliberation, so it is done one by one to speed up, as usual, the indictment of the contents of the witness statements, the contents of the defendant's statements are not read directly to the considerations of facts and law," said the judge.
