Bima Arya Suggests That Bogor Residents Who Work In Jakarta Get Dispensation For WFH

BOGOR - Bogor Mayor Bima Arya suggested that offices in Jakarta could provide dispensation for employees who live in Bogor and its surroundings to temporarily work from home (WFH).

"I think it would be better if Jakarta made a policy for residents of Bogor and surrounding areas who work in Jakarta, while this is only prioritized for WFH", said Bima Arya, in Bogor City, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, June 22.

Bima Arya said this when asked for a response regarding the discovery of electric rail service (KRL) user who was confirmed positive for COVID-19. This result was known when PT KAI Commuter conducted an antigen swab test at Bogor Station, Monday, June 21.

Bima Arya who is also the head of the Bogor City COVID-19 Handling Task Force will coordinate again with PT KAI Commuter which manages the Commuter line.

Bima Arya assessed that, in the current state of soaring COVID-19 cases, it is actually not enough just to carry out health protocols in KRL carriages, but it would be better if they were synchronized with WFH policies from offices in Jakarta.

According to him, residents of Bogor City and surrounding areas who use KRL services are mostly workers in Jakarta. Based on data from the Health Office, the transmission of COVID-19 in Bogor City mainly comes from two clusters, namely the out-of-town cluster and the family cluster.

"If the family cluster is to be dissected again, the origin is mostly from out-of-town clusters. Bogor City residents who work outside the city, especially Jakarta, have contracted COVID-19 and infect their family members", he said.

Therefore, to suppress the spread of COVID-19 in Jakarta and surrounding areas, including the city of Bogor, it would be better if residents of Bogor and surrounding areas used mass transportation services temporarily to work from home or WFH.

"By working from home, residents of Bogor and its surroundings have reduced the mobility of people from Bogor-Jakarta-Bogor", he said.
