JAKARTA - The world's first electric flying racing vehicle has just completed the necessary tests to take off later this year in a series of international races.

The global premiere of the remote-controlled multi-copters Airspeeder was originally scheduled to take place in 2020. But, like many launches, the Airspeeder has had to delay its launch due to the pandemic.

The story of the Airspeeder began in the summer of 2019, when entrepreneur Matthew Pearson shared his ambition to create the world's first racing series for flying electric vehicles, as previously reported by Euronews Green.

The company responsible for the development, Alauda Aeronautics, and its sister company Airspeeder recently announced that the Alauda Airspeeder Mk3, a four-meter-long multi-copter, has carried out its first unmanned test flight.

The first flight took place at an undisclosed test site in the South Australian desert under the supervision of the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) as reported by Euronews Friday, June 18.

This successful test will allow organizers to launch the 'Airspeeder EXA' race series later this year at three international locations to be announced soon. They promised to work with elite pilots drawn from aviation and motorsport.
