Police Arrest 5 Burglars Of Truck Drivers At Pantura And Gresik Market

GRESIK - Gresik District Police, East Java, arrested five perpetrators of burglary who were caught illegally levying truck drivers in the North Coast (Pantura), East Java, and market visitors.

"The thuggery that they carried out was categorized as disturbing the community. Such as burglary or illegal collection, and we have secured it," said Gresik Police Chief, Grand Commissioner Adjutant Arief Fitrianto, as quoted by Antara, Monday, June 14.

Grand Commissioner Adjutant Arief explained that the five thugs were arrested in the early hours of Sunday, June 13, at Governor Suryo street, Gresik District, and Simpang Empat Bringkang, Menganti District.

"When the operation was carried out, the thugs were caught blaming market visitors and truck drivers," said Arief.

The thugs were then transported to the Gresik Police Headquarters for interrogation by the Criminal Investigation Unit and a health check.

Grand Commissioner Adjutant Arief said the control of thuggery was in accordance with the instructions of the National Police Chief after receiving direct orders from the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo.

"Controlling thuggery is part of the police's duty to follow up on public complaints," said Arief, who is also an Alumni of the 2001 Police Academy.

Grand Commissioner Adjutant Arief also appealed to the public if they encountered acts of thuggery to report to the nearest police or call center 110.

"We also remind that the COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet. We ask our people to remain disciplined in complying with health protocols, such as washing hands with soap, wearing masks, maintaining distance, avoiding crowds, and limiting mobility are things that people can do to avoid transmission of the coronavirus," he said.
