The Rumdin Of The Batu Ampar Head Of East Jakarta Was Burned, Allegedly From Cigarette Butts

JAKARTA - The official house of the village head of Batu Ampar, East Jakarta, Achmad Ruslan, was burned to the ground, Monday, June 14 evening.

The East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept. who received the report immediately mobilized personnel to extinguish the fire at the house which is located at Jl. Batu Ampar II 54-8, RT 08 RW 03.

"The chronology started when a member of the Pol PP guard saw that suddenly there was an ignition at the official residence," said East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. Head of Operations Gatot Sulaeman when confirmed in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Monday, June 14.

Gatot Sulaeman added that the cause of the fire at the Batu Ampar village head office was suspected to have come from cigarette butts.

"The fire is thought to have started from residents throwing cigarette butts from the road," said Gatot Sulaeman.

Gatot said that his party deployed four pump cars with a total of 20 personnel to extinguish the fire that burned the official house.

The fire extinguishing which started at 19.26 WIB was finished at 20.00 WIB or in approximately half an hour.

Luckily at the time of the incident, said Gatot, there were no casualties because the official house was empty. However, the material loss is estimated at IDR 50 million.
