Pertamina Ensures Normal Fuel Distribution After Tank Car Accident in Bulungan

BULUNGAN - PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Kalimantan ensures the distribution of fuel oil (BBM) in Bulungan Regency is running normally. After a tanker belonging to a transport partner had an accident on the Bulungan-Berau KM 30 Poros Road, Jelarai Selor on Monday, July 20 night.

Area Manager Communication, Relations & CSR Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Kalimantan, Edi Mangun revealed that the tanker car with the police number KU 8196 AU was carrying 8 kiloliters (KL) of Pertalite and 8 KL of Biosolar from Jobber Berau to SPBU 63.772.002 Tanjung Selor.

"From the initial examination, the accident occurred when the tanker car crossed the winding road and tried to avoid an oil palm truck that had a tire burst on the road," said Edi Mangun.

Then, while maneuvering, the vehicle went off the road and hit a palm tree so that the front of the car was damaged.

"Pertamina immediately handled it by prioritizing the safety of the tanker crew, securing vehicles and products, and ensuring that the distribution of fuel to the public continues," said Edi.

"One of the crew of the tanker suffered minor injuries and has received examination and treatment at the nearest health facility," he continued.

Edi said his party ensured that the incident did not cause a leak or spill of fuel.

"After the incident, Pertamina together with its transportation partners coordinated with the police to secure the location. The tanker was then evacuated using a towing vehicle to the destination gas station," he said.

He explained that all the cargo in the form of 8 KL of Pertalite and 8 KL of Biosolar was successfully dismantled at the destination SPBU on Tuesday (21/7) at 07.00 Wita so that the service and distribution of fuel to the community continued.

"Pertamina also ensures that the fuel stock at the SPBU 63.772.002 is in a safe condition, namely Pertamax 7 KL, Pertalite 9 KL, Pertamax Turbo 5 KL, Biosolar 24 KL, and Dexlite 12 KL. The next fuel delivery has also been prepared to maintain supply," he explained.

Edi added that the results of the pre-departure examination showed that the two tanker crew were in good health and the vehicle was declared fit for use and no indication of alcohol consumption was found.

"Based on GPS data, the vehicle speed at the time of the incident ranged from 35-44 kilometers per hour with clear weather and good road conditions," he said.

Pertamina together with its transportation partners will conduct a follow-up inspection of vehicles and a thorough evaluation to ensure that all safety procedures for fuel distribution are still applied.
