When Deputy Chairperson Of Corruption Eradication Commission Asked The Reason For The Summons Of Komnas HAM Related To TWK

JAKARTA - Five leaders of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) have been in the spotlight after not being present when summoned by the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) regarding allegations of human rights violations that occurred during the National Insight Test Assessment (TWK) process. Later, the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, spoke up and questioned the reason for the summons.

To reporters, Ghufron said that his party respects the work carried out by Komnas HAM in investigating alleged violations in the TWK process. However, he considers this summons unclear and this is what makes the KPK leadership choose to send a letter instead of attending the Komnas HAM invitation on Tuesday, June 8.

"KPK conveys the reason that we need certainty that what we will question us about is related to what alleged human rights violations," said Ghufron to reporters in Jakarta, Friday, June 11.

According to him, this is important because the leaders of the anti-corruption commission need certainty about what violations have been committed in the test process as a condition for the transfer of their employee status. Ghufron said this certainty was important to prepare the necessary documents.

Moreover, this legal certainty has been regulated in Law Number 30 of 1999 where Article 3 states that everyone has the right to legal protection and legal certainty. "Well, one of the legal certainty is the certainty of what the invitation is for," he said.

Furthermore, he even compared the summons made by Komnas HAM with the KPK. According to him, his subordinates are always clear when they will call someone for questioning in a corruption case.

"KPK always invites, asking for witness statements is always clear. For example, X is asked for a statement in what article of corruption allegations," he said.

"Because it wasn't clear, we didn't give it (a statement, ed) then we asked. In fact, it's clear from the reporter. They complained to the KPK leadership about what human rights violations were alleged to have done?

Hearing the statement from Ghufron, Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) researcher Kurnia Ramadhana spoke up. He said the questions that emerged from the KPK leadership were considered absurd.

Moreover, during the past month, there have been many testimonies from 75 non-active KPK employees who voiced various irregularities during the TWK process. Including, related to questions submitted by assessors.

"The majority of the questions asked are irrelevant, offend the private sphere, and even harass women," Kurnia said in her written statement.

He also considered the information given by Ghufron to be complicated and did not target the substance of the TWK polemic. According to him, as public officials and law enforcers, all KPK leaders should be able to fulfill the call of Komnas HAM.

"ICW urges the KPK leadership not to hide or run away from the TWK problem which has clearly violated the human rights of 75 employees," said Kurnia.

"If the next call also doesn't come, it's better for them to resign as leaders," he added.

It was previously reported that Komnas HAM did summon KPK leaders so that they could clarify allegations of human rights violations in the TWK process. This allegation was reported by representatives of 75 employees of the anti-corruption commission who were declared ineligible and thus disabled from their jobs.

After not attending the first summons, Komnas HAM again summoned the KPK leadership on Tuesday, June 15. This aims to obtain clarification from both parties, both from the employee who complained and the KPK leadership who was complained.

For information, the National Insight Test was attended by 1,351 KPK employees. Of these, 1,274 people were declared eligible.

Meanwhile, 75 employees including Novel Baswedan, Chairman of the KPK Employee Forum who is also investigator Yudi Purnomo, Director of Socialization and Anti-Corruption Campaign Giri Suprapdiono, Head of the KPK Task Force Harun Al-Rasyid, and Director of PJKAKI Sujanarko were declared ineligible (TMS). While the other two employees did not attend the interview test.
