Crowds Occur At McDonald's Outlets Due To The New BTS Meal Menu, The National Police Coordinate To COVID-19 Task Force

JAKARTA - Police have not taken legal steps regarding the crowds that occurred in a number of McDonald's outlets. The crowd was due to the emergence of a special BTS Meal menu.

"We have communicated with the COVID-19 Task Force (about the crowd)", said the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Argo Yuwono in his statement, Wednesday, June 9.

To deal with the crowd, continued Argo, his party has deployed regional personnel. They will unravel the crowd.

"Police and the National Army (TNI) are coordinating with the Regional Government to provide education about the incident", he said.

The McDonald's outlet is selling a special BTS Mela menu today. This menu is a McDonald's collaboration with the South Korean boy band, BTS.

Even though McDonald's only serves BTS Meal orders via online orders and cannot eat on the spot, it turns out that crowds of queues for purchases are unavoidable.

Hundreds of online motorcycle taxis swarmed McDonald's outlets. In the TMCPoldaMetro Twitter account, the police must intervene to remind online ojek drivers to continue to apply health protocols.
