JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya officially stopped investigating the case of the death of the Foreign Ministry's Young Diplomat (Kemlu), Arya Daru Pangayunan (ADP). The investigation was stopped due to three considerations.

This was conveyed by the Head of the Public Relations Sub-Directorate of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Reonald Simanjuntak, who explained that the termination of the investigation was contained in the Letter of Order to Terminate the Investigation (SP2 Lidik) with the number B/63/I/Res.1.24/2026/Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya, dated January 6, 2026.

"The termination of the investigation process regarding the death of ADP's brother is contained in SP2 Lidik, and the letter has been received by the victim's family," Reonald told the media, at the Polda Metro Jaya, Friday, January 9, 2026.

Reonald emphasized that the letter to stop the investigation had also been officially sent to the family as a form of transparency in the legal process.

Regarding the reason for the termination, Reonald said there were at least three main considerations. First, no criminal elements were found based on the results of the case title and the deepening carried out by the investigators.

"Second, the series of investigations ranging from processing the crime scene, examination of evidence, to witness statements have been thoroughly analyzed and do not lead to criminal acts," he said.

However, Reonald emphasized that the police would still open the opportunity to continue the investigation if later a new or valid new evidence was found.

"Investigators are still open. If there is new evidence that is valid and accountable, then this case can be investigated again. But for now, our official investigation has stopped," he concluded.

Previously, the case of the death of the Diplomat Expert of the Directorate of Protection of Indonesian Citizens (PWNI) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) Arya Daru Pangayunan (ADP), was stopped by the Polda Metro Jaya.

The lawyer for Arya Daru's family, Nicholay Aprilindo, said the reason the police stopped the investigation was because no criminal incident had been found.

According to him, the word "not yet" opens the possibility of a criminal event. He also questioned the police's move to have to stop the case.

"No criminal incident has been found, remember the word 'not' means it is still open 'the possibility of a criminal incident', but why should it be stopped?" he said.
