JAKARTA - The Mobile Investigation Sub Directorate (Resmob) of the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Metro Jaya Police arrested a perpetrator of theft with the modus operandi of tire gembos and glass breakage that hit Rp1.2 billion in cash in the Kalideres area, West Jakarta.

"The suspect with the initials SA (53) was successfully secured at his residence in the Cileungsi area, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Wednesday (17/6) early morning at around 00.30 WIB," said Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Polda Metro Jaya AKBP Resa Fiardi Marasabessy Resmob, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 29.

Resa explained that the theft occurred on Tuesday (9/6) at around 11.30 WIB on Jalan Taman Surya III, Kalideres, West Jakarta.

"The incident began when the victim with the initials FB had just taken a large amount of cash at the bank and was about to return to his office," he said.

Then in the middle of the journey, the car driven by the victim had a flat tire. The victim then went to the nearest workshop at the scene to change the tire.

"However, when the victim returned from the repair area, the middle glass on the right side of his car was already broken. The victim's bag containing Rp1.2 billion in cash was gone.

"The victim then reported the incident to the West Jakarta Metro Police," he said.

Following up on the victim's report, the Opsnal Unit 1 and Timsus II Subdit Resmob Polda Metro Jaya teams conducted an investigation of the crime scene (TKP), observation, and analysis of digital and CCTV records.

Panit I Subdit Resmob Polda Metro Jaya AKP Pendi Wibison said that from the results of IT investigation and surveillance camera footage, the team managed to identify the profile and whereabouts of one of the perpetrators until the arrest in Bogor Regency.

"In the arrest, the officers seized a number of evidence in the form of cash proceeds from the crime of Rp. 200 million, one unit of black Daihatsu Xenia car, two units of motorcycles, one shoulder bag, several ATM cards and bank books, as well as CCTV footage of the location of the incident," he said.

He added that in launching the action, the suspect did not act alone and is currently still pursuing the other four perpetrators who have been included in the wanted list (DPO), namely initials D, M, C, and M.

"Currently, the suspect SA and the evidence have been taken to Unit 1 Subdit Resmob Polda Metro Jaya for further investigation," said Pendi.

For his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 477 of the Criminal Code (Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code) regarding the crime of theft with a charge.
