Ministry Of Health Says The Peak Of COVID-19 Will Occur In The Middle Of June

JAKARTA - Deputy Health Minister Dante Saksono Harbuwono said there has been an increase in positive confirmed cases of COVID-19 by 38 percent recently.

He revealed this when describing the latest conditions of COVID-19 after the Eid al-Fitr holiday in a Hearing meeting (RDP) between Commission IX of the Indonesian Parliament and the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), at the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Building, Thursday, May 27.

"Based on the evaluation results, the 7-day moving average has increased in recent times, an increase of 38.08 percent, mortality has also increased by 2.78 percent today, this is still below the WHO standard of 2.05 percent", said Dante.

Then, he said, there were specimens that were examined by moving that had begun to appear, but specimens had increased by 89.98 percent and hospitalizations in the hospital showed a decrease to date of minus 0.72 percent.

He also said that there would be a spike in COVID-19 cases in mid-June 2021. According to him, although there had been an increase, the corona cases had not yet reached its peak.

The Ministry of Health predicts cases will increase starting this week and reach a peak at 6-7 weeks after Eid.

"That way we see this pattern will repeat itself, and the increase in cases if we look at the pattern will be observed this week, starting to rise this week May 23-28, and 6-7 weeks when it will reach its peak in mid-June", he said.

Apart from the Ministry of Health, the RDP led by the Deputy Chairperson of Commission IX, Nihayatul Wafiroh, was also attended by the new Head of National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) Ganip Warsito, spokesman for COVID-19 Control, Wiku Adisasmito and staff.
