Today Gus Yahya Leads PBNU's Routine Plenary Plenary Meeting Despite Being Dismissed By Sharia Meetings

JAKARTA The general chairman of PBNU who was dismissed through the plenary meeting of Syuriah, Yahya Cholil Staquf (Gus Yahya), continued to hold routine PBNU plenary meetings on Thursday, December 11. The meeting is scheduled to discuss various organizational programs, including PBNU consolidation in disaster management that is currently occurring in a number of areas.

PBNU Secretary General Amin Said Husni confirmed the plenary meeting. "Yes, that's right, Thursday afternoon," Amin said when confirmed, Thursday, December 11.

He also distributed an official invitation letter addressed to the Pleno Executive Board, including Mustasyar, Syuriyah Daily Management, A'wan, Tanfidziyah Daily Management, institutional heads, and the head of the central NU autonomous body.

Previously, Gus Yahya had said that the plenary meeting was a routine six-month agenda and would focus on evaluation and disaster programs.

"Tomorrow we will hold a plenary event to talk about the programs that will be our tasks, including evaluating a number of current programs. There will also be special things later regarding consolidation for NU's contribution to disaster impact management which is currently underway," he said at the Ministry of State Secretariat, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, December 10.

Regarding his dismissal as general chairman, Gus Yahya emphasized that the decision was invalid and did not need to be questioned further.

"As a rule, it cannot be considered to exist, because the first is stated as a continuation of something that is not constitutional, which is not legal. That's why it becomes invalid, and the procedures and mechanisms are also not in accordance with the existing order," he said.

He reiterated that changing the general chairman can only be done through the congress, not through Sharia daily meetings. The daily meeting of the sharia is not authorized to dismiss the mandater, in this case I am the general chairman. If it is not authorized, it is still unacceptable, so it cannot be continued, it cannot be executed," said Gus Yahya.

According to him, this principle is a universal provision in any organization. "Wherever there is no mandatory organization to be dismissed outside the highest deliberation. This is actually a universal thing. Everyone knows, in NU it is the same way, there are no special rules about it," he said.

Until now, the internal situation of PBNU still shows a difference in attitude between the Syuriah camp which appointed the Acting Ketum and the Tanfidziyah camp to reject the decision. But on the other hand, Gus Yahya emphasized that the organization's agenda, especially those related to disasters, must continue.
