President asks for accelerated mine arrangement, targeting state revenue

JAKARTA - The government will accelerate the organization of the mining sector to increase non-tax state revenues (PNBP). This step is one of the discussions in a limited meeting led by President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace, Tuesday, July 28.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia said that arranging mining was one of the agendas reported to the President.

"We also discussed the arrangement of mining in order to increase PNBP," said Bahlil after the meeting.

According to Bahlil, the President gave a number of directions related to the energy and mining sectors. One of the concerns is to ensure the availability of fuel oil for fishermen so that their economic activities are not disrupted.

"The President directed that we should pay close attention to fuel for fishermen so that they can run their businesses," he said.

Bahlil has not explained the form of mining arrangements that the government will carry out. He also did not specify the mining sector that was a priority or additional PNBP targets that wanted to be achieved.

In the same meeting, the government also discussed a number of other agendas, ranging from the completion of the village electricity program, acceleration of the 100 gigawatt solar power plant (PLTS) project, to the condition of national energy resilience amid the geopolitical turmoil in the Middle East.
