JAKARTA The puddle occurred near the entrance of Marina Ancol, North Jakarta, on Thursday afternoon, December 4, 2025. It is suspected that the inundation arose due to the overflow of the tidal wave, the sea wave that rose to the mainland.

"The flood is near Marina's entrance," said a VOI source, via text message, Thursday, December 4.

According to observations by officers and residents' reports, the water had reached an altitude of about 20'30 cm at the Marina gate, so several vehicles were directed to turn around.

Nevertheless, the security forces reported that the surrounding area remained conducive and there were no serious disturbances in residents' activities. Access to tourist areas and settlements is largely still accessible.

This incident cannot be separated from the early warning issued by the BMKG and BPBD DKI Jakarta, which states that the peak tidal wave is predicted to occur on December 5, 2025. North Jakarta coastal areas, including Ancol-Maria, are included in the list of areas at risk of being affected.

Previously, the tidal wave had submerged a number of points in North Jakarta, for example around Jalan RE Martadinata, in front (JIS), last Wednesday morning, with water levels reaching about 10 cm. The puddle there lasted several hours before receding.

A number of anticipatory efforts have been made by the DKI Provincial Government, including alerting water pumps at vulnerable points and strengthening coastal drainage systems. The public is advised to continue to monitor warnings from BPBD and protect the environment so that inundation does not turn into a health threat or interfere with mobility.

With conditions like now, the water had risen but not yet severe, residents and visitors to Marina Ancol were advised to remain vigilant, especially ahead of the forecast for the peak of the tidal wave on Friday.
