Airlangga: Gibran Carry Out Tasks From Prabowo To Attend The G20 Summit

JAKARTA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka attended a meeting of the cooperation forums of five medium-strength countries, MIKTA, to bilateral with a number of partner countries on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, Saturday, November 22.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto explained that at the MiKTA meeting consisting of Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkey and Australia (MIKTA), the Indonesian government expressed appreciation to South Korea for its chairmanship in 2025.

"On this occasion, Indonesia also congratulated and thanked the South Korean leadership at this year's MiKTA and next year it will be led by Australia," Airlangga said in a press statement delivered at a hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa, Saturday night.

Airlangga explained that Gibran, who carried out the assignment from President Prabowo Subianto to attend the G20 Summit, also held a bilateral meeting "pull side meeting".

The bilateral meeting was held with the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Prime Minister of Vietnam, President of Angola who is also Chairman of the African Union (African Union), President of Finland, Director General of World Trade Organization (WTO), and Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UN Trade and Development/UNCTAD).

During the bilateral meeting, Airlangga said Ethiopia needed support from Indonesia from the agricultural sector, especially palm oil.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arrmanatha Natsir, said that of the total six bilateral meetings held by Indonesia on the sidelines of the G20 Summit, these meetings generally discussed the encouragement to increase bilateral cooperation in the economic sector.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted the desire from the Republic of Angola to Indonesia to increase cooperation in agriculture, especially for plantation commodities, such as coffee and chocolate.

The G20 Summit in South Africa became a historic moment because it was the first time the high-level meeting was held in fact Africa.

The G20 summit, which took the big theme "Solidarity, Equality and Sustainability" marks the end of the Global-South state leadership relay at the G20 which began with Indonesia's leadership in 2022, followed by India, Brazil, and South Africa.
